Keyworth and District Community Concern

Categories: Charity

A  Trust was formed in 1974 and in 2016 converted to a registered charity, with new volunteers adding to the experience and commitment of the existing long serving volunteers.  However we are also very keen to hear from you if you are interested in joining our rotas to help run the Day Centre, Drive our Buses or act as an escort on the bus to help our clients. We carry out DBS checks and we’re a friendly lot 🙂 Contact Ian  07780 646142 if you are interested.

Tuesday Lunch Club

Weekly day centre from 9.30 to 2.30 for the elderly and less able, it is staffed by volunteers in the Centenary Lounge providing lunch, social dialogue and companionship.  Many of the members are collected in the morning from their homes in our Community Bus staffed by volunteer drivers and assistants, and then taken back home in the afternoon. A small fee is charged for the cost of the food

A further benefit of the club is the period of respite it provides to those who care for the elderly and less able in their homes.

New members and volunteers welcome. Contact us on 07881 836 221

Thursday Shopping

Each week our volunteer drivers and assistants on our Community Bus collect elderly Keyworth residents from their homes and take them to the local Co-ops, Sainsburys and other shops.  After completing their shopping they are taken back home with help to carry their purchases.

New members and volunteers welcome. Contact us on 07881 836 221

Keyworth Community Bus

We operate two buses under the small bus permit scheme for voluntary organisations on a non-profit basis for the benefit of Keyworth and neighbouring villages.  Our buses are fitted with tail lifts for wheelchair access and can carry up to 16 people. All of our drivers and assistants are volunteers. More volunteers are welcome.

Local groups or non-commercial associations can apply to borrow a bus on the condition that they become members of KDCC ( we have over 80 groups).  Before being allowed to drive a KDCC minibus, drivers must successfully undertake a familiarisation and assessment session with the KDCC Bus Manager and be subject to driving licence and insurance checks. Organisations borrowing our bus are asked for a donation to cover running costs.

For more information or to ask about volunteering as a Community Bus driver or to assist;
